Chapter 6 Nurse Leni
During the conversation there is a loud noise in the kitchen. Josef goes to inspect and meets Nurse Leni who also knows information about his case. They flirt and eventually have sex. She tries to control him, by giving him ideas about what to do with his case. Even the workers seem to control Josef. Yet, Josef cannot fully commit to any single women as seen by the triangle of women he has relationships with throughout the book. Again this shows the institutions control of Josef, and how he does not seem to have his own free will.

This encounter with Leni gives me the sensation that K. never really actively seeks to do anything, but in more like things happen to him. It seems as if he is living but only by letting things happen to him, not by him taking action. Even this sexual encounter, it gives the impression that she took the initiative and K. just goes through with it, just like the rest of the story where he just goes along with what's happening instead of taking an active role.
ReplyDeleteIt seems as if K is in slow motion, oblivious to all that is around him, and yet everything around him continues to move faster and faster. If K does not start to recognize the trouble that he is in, and take control of the situation it could be disastrous for him.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is giving K. the same ideas about his case and everyone is trying to gain his trust. K. wants to find the truth, but he just expects it to fall in his lap without action.
